Family Hotel

Thinking about going to Phuket for new year...will be 4 adults and 4 kids ( 6 to 12 ) and am looking for a decent hotel with good pool on a nice beach.

Any suggestions

is excellent a really useful distance from the beach and from Bangla road,close to main patong nightlife,shopping and beaches and the pool is so nice here.

Holiday Inn in Patong is a good family hotel but it%26#39;s not right on the beach, it%26#39;s just across the road.

Do you know which area of Phuket you want stay?

Decide beach location first, if you are looking for %26#39;right on the beach%26#39; your choices will be limited within the mid price range, I guess you are talking about 1st Jan New Year and that is the number 1 most expensive time of the year, if you don%26#39;t mind sharing rough idea of budget, but you would be hard pushed to find right on the beach without going to top end price range.

Budget fairly flexible to be honest.

Also consider the options of staying in an apartment complex. You will also get kitchen facilities if you want to cook a meal, separte bedrooms, usually 2 bathrooms plus a lounge. There are a few complexes I know of that would suit if you are interested. Let me know throught the forum and I%26#39;ll supply you with a few options.

I would definitely not recommend Patong as I just spent 3 hours there and found it unbearable.

Tacky tourism at its best putting it mildly.

I would recommend Karon as it has just as much to do in Patong .. consider the Hilton Karon.. it was not originally a Hilton and is not the typical corporate type hotel. They have huge grounds, many pools and also a driving range, squash court, little movie theatre I think, tennis court and activities every day. it is just opposite the beach.

dmb - if you want tight on the beach without over the top prices the Kata Beach Resort is on the beach, also the Karon Beach Resort is on the beach.

Other options Katathani, Le meridien is south of Patong on it%26#39;s own cove, but you can%26#39;t walk to anywhere.

For a family place that is %26#39;on the beach%26#39; Kata Beach Resort or Karon Beach resort, busy enough without being Patong !

If you don%26#39;t mind staying somethere that is across the road from the beach then plenty more become options.

If we stay in Patong we always stay at HI, as the kids can go into the busy kids club and we can go for a walk/dinner on our own. Lots of kids at this resort.
