We%26#39;re considering going to Thailand mid August to Mid Sept.
Tried looking through TA%26#39;s forums but couldnt find specific info.
If you know pls send me the link.
Where do you think are the Less Commercial / Tourist beach City destinations?
Eg not phuket.
Ideally with transfer from a major airport of not more than 3 hours by car, 1 hour by boat/ plane.
Thanks for replying to my post.

Less Commercial / Tourist Beach Destinations?
There are plenty of beach destinations in Thailand that are not over-developed. Though %26#39;less commercial / tourist%26#39; does that mean you still want a town area?
Mid August / September you should be looking at the Gulf of Thailand islands and beaches for the best weather.
You have the coastline south east from Bangkok once past Pattaya that are quieter, Rayong area and Koh Samet island, further down the coast Koh Chang.
South from Bangkok you have Hua Hin area. Majority of all visitors are Thai but also tourists from other areas, though retains mainly a Thai town feel, lots of top range luxury beach resorts, villas etc plus othe places to stay.
More for beach plus temples, national parks, treks, rivers, farmlands, elephant %26#39;reserves%26#39; etc.
About 2.5 hours by taxi from Bangkok or you can train but takes longer, and then the coastline south from there to Chumphon where you can take a ferry over to Koh Tao for snorkeling, onwards to Koh Phangan before getting as far as samui ( very developed ).
Along that coast are quiet beach areas around pranburi and Dolphin Bay, you are now around 3 hours by road but the route continues then to Baan Krut and Bang Saphan. Small offhsore Koh Talu island for beach, snorkeling, a/c tropical style accommodations.
There are plenty of a/con resort accommodations, thathced cabana style places with pools. Local towns and villages and rural areas. Plenty visit these places but they are not high on the commercial tourist agenda. Dont%26#39; expect McD or Starbucks once you are past Hua Hin though !
So heading south east from Bangkok or south from Bangkok gives you plenty of options.
