prescription glasses

can%26#39;t decide whether to buy prescription sunnies and glasses in aust (with rebate from private health) or wait to I get to phuket.

Any advise????????

prescription glasses

Hi Franka,

I have just come back from Phuket and had mine and my husband%26#39;s prescription glasses made while over there. we had our eyes tested at opsm here in Perth.

I took our prescriptions over. The quote here for my husbands glasses was $799. In Phuket we got titanium frames with graduated, transition, anti glare lenses for $320, my own glasses were only $200 as I had cheaper frames and without the anti glare lenses. My husband also got a pair of prescription sunnies for $90.

we are both very pleased with them and they are by far much cheaper than getting them here in Perth even with the rebate from our private health cover.

If you would like any more info please feel free to ask.

Kerry

prescription glasses

oops sorry Fraka

Hewson59 - based on your experience, can you recommend a optician in Phuket? Name/location? How many days did it take to have the glasses made?

Many thanks in advance!

I had new glasses made on a recent trip to KL and sent the receipt to my private health provider when I got home. (I was due for an allowed annual replacement pair)

They refunded the amount in full ($130) and even did the conversion from Ringitt to Aus.

Worth a try.....

I have used the same optician many times, though it%26#39;s in Phuket Town. They make prescription glasses in an hour.

Hi Kerry,

Any particular opto you would recommend in Patong/Karon?

Has anyone had glasses made for children. My son wears glasses for reading and I would like to get an extra pair made for him while we are there?

Thanks

Colesy

hi guys we have had glasses made in patong at a place called k t optics and cant fault them it is located in the side street between the holliday inn and patong merlin look for the big kodak camera shop on the beach front and about fife shops down there it is ask for mr sam verey nice to deal with as welland yes they do make childrens glasses as they give you a free eye test first kobrob

We%26#39;ve had lots of glasses made over the years. Usually at the optician%26#39;s next to Number 13 restaurant just off the top of Bangla road. When you are walking up Bangla from the beach turn left at the end at it is on the left.

The first price for lenses is usually very very cheap but you will find the quality of the lens not very good. Ask for the better lense. The quality is better and the price is fantastic compared to Oz.

I have always thought that the lenses come from Bangkok and are only grinded on the premisis. They usually take 3 days.

I haven%26#39;t ever claimed from my fund for glasses made up in Thailand - but only because I am usually over the limit of my fund so they won%26#39;t pay out.

Hi Kerry,

I have had my eyes tested at OPSM in Perth too and wondered about buying them in Phuket as I will be there in April. Can you please tell me whereabouts in Patong you got yours filled and did they have nice frames?

Thanks

Lauren
