Samui or Huan Hin In june?
On the weather angle this gives you a rough idea, you will get the idea for average monthly rainfall:
Hua Hin : 73 mm
Koh Samui: 93 mm
Phuket: 285 mm

Samui and Hua Hin both have top range resorts and hotels at the beach. I love Hua Hin but must admit that if you are looking for tropical style beach with swaying palms then koh samui is better from that point of view. You can find small luxury boutique resorts, beach resorts with jacuzzi or private plunge pools etc. beaches range from busy to quiet. Plenty of bars etc.
Both have plenty of places that are %26#39;right on the beach%26#39; without having to cross a beach road to get to the beach !!
Hua Hin is more suited to those who want a beach but doesn%26#39;t matter as not so %26#39;tropical in style'; as Koh Samui but ';also'; want to visit national parks, rivers, perhaps tek, Thai villages, quiet coastal village and deserted beach areas, elephant reserves, more nature and also enjoy temples and historical places ( plus the golf of course ) etc.
So they are both good choices for June but different things appeal to different people. Hua Hin has plenty of bars and lots of excellent restaurants, night markets etc.
You are certainly not going to find a Patong soi bangla in Hua Hin ! - just not allowed. Chaweng on Samui is lively but again don%26#39;t expect Patong soi Bangla style place.
They are different so it comes to what you are seeking. If you like snorkeling that is easier from Koh Samui and you can even include a few nights on Koh Tao, to snorkel from Hua Hin is about 2 hours fown the coast and not as good as Koh Tao.
So i would say for tropical style beach place go for Koh samui, if you are more into nature and culture then Hua Hin. You could always do both !!
Samui or Huan Hin In june?
Kjd - if you care to mention where you stayed in Phuket and what you liked that does help a lot for tips if you want similar sort of place to stay and price range for specific tips, whether budget,, mid range, luxury, whether you like large resort hotels, boutique style or whatever. Whether busy or quiet area.
Tks so much for your replies.
Previously I styed in the Residence in Twin Palms Phuket. An absolutely AWESOME Hotel..just unreal. However, I really didnt think much of the location ..it was fab once inside but not ON the beach and the beach itself (after crossing road) was not great and a bit smally!
I also stayed in the Evason Phuket...which was overall gorgeous. I preferred the surroundings of the Evason but in terms of room style etc the Twin Palms is gonna be very very difficult to beach.
So overall I am after a boutique, Thai style, very clean and modern with grgeous smells etc...intimate but also not too boring! You get me? Hope that helps...tks again
