That%26#39;s a hard one to answer kaz, if you are talking about places to visit, and I haven%26#39;t really got one for you - just wanted to reply so you know people are looking!

If you have never travelled at all before (not sure if I read your post correctly) then you might appreciate having your flights and accommodation booked through a travel agent. They will be able to adivse you as to what kind of ';scene'; exists in which area, and they should be able to organise you an itinerary which visits a number of places. The advantage of this is that you don%26#39;t have to worry about getting there, orienting yourselves and making arrangements for the next day etc, as it all will be done. The disadvantages are that you might not like the place you are staying, you might change your mind, you might be paying more... you would need to weigh up in your minds what is best for you. For example, we have never been to thailand before, but will be arriving in Bangkok this Saturday. Normally as an independent traveller I would just arrive, have my fist night booked somewhere and make my way to it via public transport/taxi, and look the next day for somewhere maybe more suitable. My husband however has never travelled, and even though I feel comfortable with my way, I know that he will feel easier having a number of nights booked in a reputable hotel and a transfer to the hotel already orgnaised.

However, I would not book day trips/excursions from outside the country. You will no doubt find many many tour operators wherever you are located, and in many cases may be able to customise your requirements.

Perhaps the best option for you would be to pre-book parts of your holiday so that you have structure to your time, and then keep the other parts open to be flexible. My biggest piece of advice is to just keep a flexible attitude, so that things are able to happen if they come about, and you don%26#39;t end up regretting things that didn%26#39;t happen.

And above all, read up about possibilities and options so that when you do arrive, you have a sense of the place you are at.

good luck with it, caz

thank you for that
