My partner and I am in the process of making a reservation for April to stay in one of the Sea breeze rooms. I noticed that there is quite a discrepancy in the size of the rooms. Can anyone please advise us as to whether these rooms are uncomfortably small or actully quite comfortable despite their small size.
Thanks.
Rooms in Karmakamet
Well, the sea breeze rooms are smaller coz they lack the verandas. Price wise, I would say its worth every bit. Its very comfortable and the washroom is big.
Rooms in Karmakamet
But for privacy I would request a room upstairs as the poolside ones are very open - they are so pretty everyone (me) looks in!! Should also say however every time I have been in (to eat not stay) the resort is quiet so that is possibly not a problem.
We today got back from Koh Samui including 4 night stay at Karmakamet. We got a great deal through Expedia at around AUD$160- per night with 1 night free and including breakfast. They have 11 of the Sea Breeze rooms and 3 of the Ocean Front which are larger but a lot more $$. We got one of the second level rear ones which are best as they have ocean views, verandah with swing chair and a lot more privacy than lower level ones which are open to the pool and a lot of passing people. Rooms are not huge but adequate with large bed and bathroom, lacking in drawer space though for clothes. Resort is new so everything is still new looking and in good condition. Beware of staff coming in without knocking, rooms are made up around 10.30 so you might get caught out if sleeping in. Beware of restaurant, very very pricey, indication is beer at 200Baht, next door is only 60baht and has great food, only 15 meter walk up beach. We got caught out with our first day lunch costing 12000 Baht at Karmakamet Restaurant when would have cost around 4000 next door at Como resort. We didnt realise but certainly didnt eat at Karmakamet again.Staff difficult to communicate if speaking English and not a lot of knowledge. I asked where nearest 7/11 store was for drink etc and they said had to go into Chaweng, 15 mins away. I later saw four 7/11 or Family Mart stores within a kilometre of Karmakamet.Beach here is good with plenty of beach loungers and swimming at all times.Resort has a few shortfalls ( will post review here) but I would stay there again if can get good price. Was only around 5 rooms occupied out of 14 during our stay. Ask for a second level room facing North , #220 is best or 221, 222. Dont settle for a room without outside verandah as these dont have sea views or that extra space if wanting to sit outside. Please feed the very gentle Black or ';Dingo'; dog at breakfast time. They will go for a swim with you if you like.Enjoy , John jveevers1@bigpond.com.au
