3 Days in Bangkok.. Is this a good plan?

Hey! My boyfriend and I are coming to Thailand on the 1st of July, staying in Bangkok for three days before heading to Phuket and Krabi.

As we%26#39;ve not much time in Bangkok and theres so much to do, I%26#39;ve been looking for information on websites to try and plan our days so that we dont miss anything.

Id appreciate it if you have a look at my plan and tell me if its doable? And if you can suggest any changes or additions?

Thankyou!!!

DAY ONE

Arrive at Asia Hotel late afternoon

Possibly jet lagged so explore surrounding area, streets etc and then stay in hotel and watch Calypso Cabaret at 8.30pm

DAY TWO

Head towards Memorial Bridge and wander around Pat Klong Talaad Market

Visit the nearby Chinatown

Go to Wat Trai Mit (Temple of the Golden Buddha) near the railway station

Continue on Thanon Rama IV, pass the Chulalongkorm University and visit Snake Farm

Walk through Lumphini Park and then go visit the Erawan Shrine

Go visit Siam Ocean World or Jim Thompson House

Head back to hotel to get changed

Go watch Thai Boxing at Lumphini Stadium at 6pm and then visit the nearby Suan Lum Night Bazaar

In the evening go for a drink at Sirocco Sky Bar to see the view and then head to the Patpong district

DAY THREE

Visit Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho

Take a boat to Tha Tian and cross the river to Wat Arun

Take a boat to Tha Sanghi and go to Vimanmek Mansion for Thai dance at 2pm

Explore surrounding area including:

Dusit Zoo ~ National Assembly ~ King Rama V Statue ~ Wat Benchamabophit (Marble Temple) ~ Golden Mount ~ Chitralada Palace (Kings Residence) ~ Government House ~Wat Rachanataram ~ Democracy Monument

Head back to hotel to get changed

8pm Go on Yok Yor Dinner Cruise

When its finished catch a taxi to Khao San Road

Wanted to visit the floating market aswell at some point but cant seem to fit it in!

Thanks for your replys! xxx

3 Days in Bangkok.. Is this a good plan?

Wow my head is spinning just reading it... I have never managed to do ALL that and I have spent a total of about 15 days in Bangkok!

I think you should cut back and rethink the itinerary... get yourself a guide for a day and let them take you to the key places.. Bangkok can be hard to explore on your own ESP. when you have limited time. Most of the key places (Wat Po, Wat Arun, Chinatown, Grand Palace, Vimanmek Mansion, etc) could be done in the one day with a good guide...

Here is our day doing a walking tour:

travelblog.org/Asia/鈥log-108478.html

Having been to Siam Ocean World, skip it.. nice aquarium but nothing you wont see in any other aquiruim around the world.. a waste of time with only 3 days...

I think its impossible to do Lumpini boxing, Suan Lum and drinks at Sirocco in the one night...

Do boxing in Phuket, skip the drinks at Sirocco and spend the night relaxing and wandering Suan Lum.. its a fantastic place for drinks, food and browsing.

I dont even know where to start on the rest of the plan, maybe others will have some suggestions ... but in my opinion its just too much.... Others might disagree??

3 Days in Bangkok.. Is this a good plan?

I%26#39;ve been to Bangkok 15 times and I haven%26#39;t seen or done all that.

Its probably doable, but you will be stuffed by the end of it as the heat and noise and traffic and language hassles can sometimes make it a real chore getting around Bangkok.

You%26#39;re probabaly right.. I%26#39;ll definately skip the boxing and we were only going to the sky bar to see the view..

As for all the other information it was off a website for a 2 day itinerary and looking at the map I thought it would be possible..

Obviously I%26#39;ve never been so I didnt take into account the traffic and weather conditions etc..

Thanks for your help xxx

Definates to do (in my opinion): Grand PalaceReclining Buddha at Wat Pho. Wat Arun accross the river. These should all take you 2 - 3 hours.

Spend a good night soaking up the atmosphere in Patpong.

Sometimes less is more.... Dont worry about rushing round too much.

Floating Market is a waste of time in my opinion,

If you are there during weekend - the weekend market in chatachuk is better than the night bazaar in my opinion (and cheaper)

Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Also try eating from a street stall one night.... its how the locals do it, its cheap and its keeping it real....i had my best meal of my holiday at one. Chicken fried rice and chicken breast for 40p yum x

It might be possible, but like one of the other posters said, the heat etc can wear you down when touring around Bangkok.. its so full on (in a great way).

I personally love the Floating Markets (purely for the food experience) but each time I have gone I have been with a private guide and we have gone a bit earlier to try avoid the tourist buses.. you never buy any souvineirs there as they are a rip off and found everywhere else...

IMO

Day 1

Skip Calypso... go to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar for a wander.. have dinner, a few drinks and enjoy the live music on stage... if you have the energy after, head to Patpong

Day 2

Get a private tour guide and do a city walking tour ( I recommend Tong and her guides... try request Nok if she is working).. dont do it in a car.. do the walking tour, catching local transport.. give the list of things you were hoping to see and get them to suggest which ones to definitely see and which ones to skip.

Definitely try see following:

Grand Palace, Wat Po, Reclining Buddah, Wat Arun %26amp; Chinatown, Klong tour.. the rest just see what fits... one day will be enough for this kind of stuff!

At night, head to Patpong (if you missed it the night before) OR Khao San Rd for drinks/street food.

Day 3

Finish off any %26#39;essential%26#39; sightseeing you missed the day before.... OR go to Siam Paragon shopping centre.. go to the movies OR the aquarium if thats your thing... eat in their food court.. great food.... kick back in the afternoon and then do your dinner cruise... head to Sky Bar for after dinner drinks.

At the end of the day it depends how much you are into all the monuments/palaces/temples etc but we found that one day was more than enough.. by the end of the day we were glad we didnt have a 2nd day of it! We ended up using the 3rd day on our first trip to hang out at the MBK and just soak up some airconditioning!

Hope my post is helpful... xx
