My husband and I are traveling to Thailand and will be in Bangkok for 1 night / 1 day before departing Thailand. Looking for a hotel in a good location with easy access to sights and transportation to the airport. Also, anything we must see or do? We only have about 12 hours. Thanks!

If this is all the time you have I would definitely stay near the Skytrain, look at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit which is directly connected to the Asoke station, it is also connected to the MRT (Underground train) as well. This can get you to shopping, the river (then you can take boats to the main temples)and heaps of restaurants, bars and entertainment.
It is also on the right side of town to get quickly to the expressway to the airport.
There is heaps to do in Bangkok, shopping, culture, entertainment, great restaurants, depends on what you are as to what I would recommend.
