Would it be rude?

I emailed the Holiday Inn early last week asking for the best deal they could do for me for a Superior Room for mid June. I mentioned that I was a returning visitor to their hotel and the duty manager emailed me back with a very good price.

Purely by accident, I found a better deal through a local travel agent (unbelievable isn鈥檛 it) and their pay 5 stay 8 deal.

Would it be rude if I emailed the hotel again telling them that I found a better deal and can they beat it? I could also mention that I am a Priority Club member.

The reason that I want to book directly through the hotel is because we require an extra late checkout of 6pm on our final day, and I thought we may have a better chance of getting it if we booked direct.

Would it be rude?

Are you comparing apples to apples though?

Would it be rude?

Go with the price of the agent Let face it hes only the manager he don,t own the place and changes are he would of already forgotten the deal he made you anyway lol Its the type of thing i would think of too!! But i bet you anything that he would understand why pay more!!lui

Actually I am not surprised that a travel agent has a better price, but I don%26#39;t think it would offend them to mention it,and if you don%26#39;t try - you don%26#39;t get :)

I would just mention nicely that I saw such and such deal at this price and can you match (or better) it for me.

One thing to take into account on these stay %26amp; pay deals is breakfast is compulsory. When we looked at staying 9 nights at the Katahani it cost as much for the breakfast for 3 people as the accommadation did.

We ended up getting a deal thru Accor %26amp; didnt need to pay for breakfast.

Thanks for your answers so far.

The two quotes (direct from the hotel and travel agent) are EXACTLY the same. They both include taxes and breakfast everyday. For the travel agent quote, there is no extra that says that you need to pay for your breakfast on the free nights.

What do you think are the chances of getting the extra late checkout without having to pay an extra night?

When we originally negotiated out hotels for Krabi and Patong for this June, we pushed for a free upgrade of room and a good price. We were given both. As it got closer to having to pay for this, we noticed some good internet deals which meant that we could get a similar deal to the one we had negotiated direct. I went back to the hotels with this and they bettered their price yet again and even included some honeymoon package extras that are not normally complimentary. We are very happy with the final deals we were offered and have spoken to several travel agents both here and in Thailand (through Thai friends) and none were able to match the prices.

So it pays to negotiate. I would definately see what you can do for a late checkout. Most hotels will not let you stay in your room, however do have a room available for this purpose. Check to see if they have this.

We have saved enough money by booking direct and negotiating, to pay for all of our Bangkok accommodation (3 nights) on the way home.

Good Luck

Hi I work for Mom Tri%26#39;s Villa Royale and I know that for us here it would not be rude, totally acceptable and people ask all the time for the best deal.

Mention what you found and ask them to match it.. can%26#39;t hurt and if you book direct actually the it can be more beneficial to the hotel too . I know here it would be appreciated and not considered offensive.

Good luck!
