I'm going to Bangkok_ need tips :-)

Hi all!,

Need advise for few things here. Leaving for Bangkok in a week.My hotel is Swiss%26#39;otel Le Concorde @ Rachadapisek Road @ Bangkok.

1) How to get to Damnoen Saduak floating market? How far from my hotel? Or perhaps Taling Chan floating market is good enough to experience this unique market?

2) Any halal restaurant/diners around my hotel?

3) Beside Chatuchak market, where else considered as best malls to shop? Forget the upscale mall pls :-)

4) Best spa %26amp; massage house. Noted about the Health Land. Any other recommendations?

Appreciate any help.

I'm going to Bangkok_ need tips :-)

The Damnoen Saduak floating market is worth a visit but it is quite a distance from Bangkok. You can easily join a tour to go there and they will probable incorporate other places to visit such as the market where the train goes through.

I can%26#39;t afford upscale shops so I went to MBK, Platinum Mall and the markets/shops around the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and Indra Regent. Suan Lum Night market is well worth the visit as well.

Have a great holiday.

1. Damnoen Saduak floating market is about 80 kms. from Bangkok. You should either buy a local tour or deal with a taxi to take you to/from there. Swiss%26#39;otel Le Concorde has a concierge. He should have an idea how much the taxi fair should be.

2. I cannot tell for sure whether there is any halal restaurant around the hotel. Again, the hotel concierge should be able to tell you. However, there are a couple of shopping malls not far from the hotel, where I guess they have halal food at their food hall. By the way, they are not very upscale mall. :-) You can shop for basic needs there.

3. Indian-jones and a60 already suggested where to shop and that should be more than enough. :-D In case you go to Chatuchak and want to check out some other places on the way back to your hotel by MRT, you can visit Union Mall and Central Ladprao (get off at Ladprao Station). Don%26#39;t go into Central Departmentstore but check out stalls on the first floor and basement.

4. Chang Massage is okay for foot massage. (I have never tried their other courses.) As for spa, there are many nice places but they may be a bit pricey. You may want to check out www.bangkokoasis.com or www.divana-dvn.com

You will see that there are many massage houses near your hotel but those are not the kind that you go to enjoy real massage or day spa!

Hope you will enjoy your stay in Bangkok.

Hi!

Many thanks to u guys -indianjones, a60 %26amp; awika.

It%26#39;s a great pleasure to have all this info.

Appreciate your help :-)

cheeerrrsss!

One note on Chatuchak, be there early 8-ish and be gone by 12pm. It%26#39;s extremely hot and humid under those enclosed zinc roofs in the maze of shops. Or at least you should be having lunch at their air-con restaurants by then :)

1) Ask your hotel concierge for a tour. They should be able to arrange it for you. Prices ranged from 450-700 baht.

2) All the food courts in the supermarket, department stores do have halal food available. www.halalthailand.com/restaurant/QAview.php鈥?/a>

3) There%26#39;s Esplanade near your hotel.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esplanade_Bangkok

4) I would recommend the Spa at the Banyan Tree hotel

wah!!!

thanks to RioJ %26amp; y-one...what a great info!

keep staying here in TA...we just need people like u guys...

^-^*

hi Pienkcat,

additionally, I would suggest you to be aware of the usual scams you may encounter in BKK (helpful locals, closed sites, fake policeman, lost tourists, etc..)

Take a little time to read previous posts about scams.

Enjoy BKK.

PS: I miss BKK :(

Might try Korn,, She is 40ish Lady, and speaks a little English, but nice and trustful. I used her twice while having Medical procedures done. Phone in BKK is 0850701029

She also took me shopping, and Dream world. We went to Cambodia, and also Chaing Mai.. Nice lady, with three kids.

She is private, and not registered, but can help with many things.

Don%26#39;t go too early to Chatuchak. Many stands aren%26#39;t even open until about 10:00.
