airasia

hi, can anyone advise me on the connecting flights from bangkok to phuket, we will be travelling from the uk with qatar airways with a stopover in doha arriving in bangkok 07.20am, what would happen if my qatar flight was delayed and i had booked a flight from bangkok that i could%26#39;nt make, would airasia transfer me on the next flight, if so what would the cost be, has this happened to anyone and what did you do, there is a flight at 10.40am i thought giving three hours for baggage and customs would be ok, any advise greatly appreciated..thanks julie

Hi

I have been looking at exactly the same flights myself just now. I am not sure where airasia stand on the transfer side of things, but I have checked the Qatar flights from Doha and all bar one over the last week have landed earlier than scheduled. The only one that was late was delayed by 10 minutes.

The only leg of the journey that is normally delayed is the Doha to Gatwick leg. All over legs are usually earlier than scheduled.

I think I will be booking the 10.20 flight.

Good luck.

Snap! I%26#39;ll be landing in BKK at 0720hrs with Etihad but I%26#39;ll be getting the 1050hrs flight out with AirAsia. The thought had crossed my mind about what would happen in the event of an Etihad delay.

Fingers crossed, eh.

hey thanks for advice, guess i%26#39;ll just book and hope all is ok, we fly boxing day, when do you fly might see you all at the airport...thanks julie

hi julie,

if you miss your flight with air asia you will have to buy another ticket at the full price, you must check your luggage in 2hours before taking of so i%26#39;m afraid your cutting it short,my advice would be change your flight now for a later one it won%26#39;t cost you anything if you do it now.

We missed our flight recently in Penang and it cost us an extra $300.00 because unless it%26#39;s there fault they won%26#39;t listen to you.

You do not have to check your baggage in 2 hours before taking off with Air Asia.We flew just 2 days ago from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket on an international flight.Conditions clearly state you must check in with baggage no later than 40 minutes before the flight. We got there one hour before the flight and the check in counter was open and ready for business-no problems.

I thought you checked your luggage when you book the tickets anyway? The e-ticket says ';checked bag 1'; next to everyone%26#39;s name.

hi,

she%26#39;s not flying to KL {there home base and a different set up} she%26#39;s flying to the busy Bangkok airport and on to Phuket with a diffrent airline,if you have suitcases it%26#39;s 2 hours, hand luggage you%26#39;ll get away with less that%26#39;s how it was in december just gone. But is it worth the risk,on landing collecting bags and clearing customs at Bangkok, and then you have to get to airasia terminal all in 1 hour I doubt it.

just out of curiousity - i have a flight from perth to KL and then on to Phuket. (all with air asia)

I have about a 3.5hr layover

if for some reason the perth flight is delayed - and i miss the flight to phuket - will they then make you buy another flight?

Hi foyerload, I too am flying from Australia to Kl then on to Phuket , and yes my understanding is that if one flight is delayed and u miss your next flight that u have booked on air asia u will have to purchase another, that unfortunately is the cons of flying a LCC .. to be sure I have left a night stop over on the way and a good 5hrs stop over on the way home, better to be safe than sorry:) also I flew on air asia last yr twice from BKK to Surrahtani and both flight%26#39;s were delayed, one for 1hr 10 minutes and the other for 20 minutes. So because of this I decided to leave extra time.... but i cant fault air asia for the price the planes were new and clean and once boarded all went very smoothly. If u are worried u can change yr flights to a later time now b4 u fly, although there maybe an extra cost but still no where near the cost of a replacement flight if that is needed. Again just remember flying from australa to kl then kl to phuket is an international flight u must pass thru customs and baggage etc and then re go thru customs and baggage to your onward flight to phuket. hope all goes well :)

thanks everyone, so just to clarify, 3 hours is not enough time, better to get a later flight out to phuket due to the 2 hours checking in time at bangkok...
