What are the best things you can do in Ao Nang

Hi guys,

Have been to Thailand before but not to Ao Nang.

What are the best trips you can do in Ao Nang, as we are going for a 4 night stay. What sort of prices would we be looking at as well as I have a family of 5.

Very little. There really is no place to go. Nice beach area but, thats it.

Adam, have a look at this web site. Of course you may find cheaper prices booking tours on the street as in Phuket. Many people recommend going on a 4 island tour to Poda etc, take a visit to the emerald pool or springs. Also have a read of Cathy%26#39;s trips to Krabi on her web page. Lee

Yeah I thought it was a bit odd, especially reading that your going for 7 days. It is really only a beach?.

I thought it be a great base to go and get from,but thanks to previous answer makes me unsure.

there is LOADS to do in the area - fantastic local islands, diving, snorkelling, elephant treks, hiking, hot springs, mountain biking, local markets....i could go on and on...

you will love it, most people do....that have been here

like lost farang said there is tons of stuff to do there.';actualy the beach isn%26#39;t that good'; LOL

but you can take long tail boat to nearby islands for great beaches.

a must do if young and adventurious is to go Rock Climbing at Railay it is a world class mecca for climbers they have tours and class%26#39;s from half day to multi days.

IMO Ao Nang is much easier to get to Islands than Phuket.

We just come back from ao nang 2 weeks ago we stayed 9 days and still didnt fit everything in Bamboo island was my fav place also the 4 island tour great day out. Elephants /Water falls/ Jungle /hot spings Railey beach/Krabi town or just chill for a day . At the end of Ao nang beach to your left theres loads of monkeys they were great fun for half an hour you ll have a ball Has for hotels we stayed at Somkiet buri and we loved it like being in the jungle the rooms are really big with a lovlly balcony the breakfast was nice/ok we paid 2650 per night for 2 enjoy lui

I agree with sunset4us - the best thing we did in Ao Nang was our amazing trip with Elizabeth and Sun at www.andamancampandcruise.com

They are locals so they know all the best places to go.

They are more expensive than the trips you buy on the street because they are private and they customise each trip to suit their guests and give you freedom and flexibilty. But for us it was WELL worth the price.

We stayed in Ao Nang in January 09 for 5 nights %26amp; did heaps of things.

My favourite was the 4 island by speedboat tour which cost 1100 baht each for 1/2 day leaving at 9am arrived back at 3pm. Or if this is too expensive for the 5 of you hire a long tail boat for this trip, not quite sure how much but should work out cheaper for the 5 of you.

We also hired a driver for the day who took us to Emerald Pool, Hot Springs %26amp; Tiger Cave Temple.

You also have to visit Railay Beach which is only a 10 min longtail ride away, fantastic scenery %26amp; great for rock climbers.

Have a great holiday......you%26#39;ll LOVE the Krabi area.

Hi Blondie59, it does becomes a problem when you have to pay for 5. I had a look at Bamboo Island thought great until you multiple by 5. A tour at 1100 baht becomes 5500 baht, over a couple of hundred dollars, (we are going Captain Mark in Phuket and that will set us back,) but looking forward to going and spend that money that K rudd is giving us.

Do all your tours with longtail boat. It is less that a half of what you will pay for the speed boat. It is not any better.
