Help Cathy - Bank Transfer

Hi Cathy or anyone else with experience of bank transfer. We have paid over and above the amount of deposit Thanthip villa required by bank transfer which is what they wanted. Hubby stuffed it up royally the first time and put in a wrong number - cost us $100Au in bank fees (aargghh!!). The money was resent Wed 25th Feb and we have contact Thanthip a couple of times asking them to confirm our booking. We just keep getting a response of pay deposit and what rooms did we want. How on earth can we get this sorted. I emailed Kasikorn bank in Patong and asked if they had received the money, but they replied that due to privacy they can%26#39;t tell us (my money Ralph!!). The language barrier seems to be a problem when I email Thanthip - ANY ADVICE AND HELP WELCOME.

Cheers

Lynn

Help Cathy - Bank Transfer

Your receipt of transfer from %26#39;your bank%26#39; is the receipt that you transferred the money.

Naturally a bank cannot divulge any information.

Tip: Don%26#39;t rely on emails too much, send a fax or call. Within Thailand when you transfer money it is fairly standard that they want a fax with a copy of the slip, you block out any information they don%26#39;t need such as your account number ( if it shows on the slip ), you can pretty much scrub out everything except your name, their name and account number and the amount.

Note that if you send the amount in AU$ that amount can fluctuate. You should have your copy.

In practice that money has arrived in their bank account, if they gave you a reference number that should have been in the %26#39;box%26#39; on the transfer at your bank, it is normally along the lines of

'; Reference / Reference No '; or something.

If they did not give you a reference number then they would have recorded by name.

For future reference anyone doing asuch should have typed clearly in the %26#39;reference section%26#39;:

Name and arrival date

If you call keep words simple, date, your name - see how it goes, remember time difference, you I think are +10(?) and here is + 7, call when perhaps it is 1000-1200 local or 1400-1600 local at a time you catch office staff in.

You will no doubt find the money is in their account, probably they cannot %26#39;tie-up%26#39; the amounts.

Making that a one-liner Lynn:

As long as you put in their correct account number code then it should have arrived no worries.

It is probably tying up that amount deposited in their account with your booking.

Our company sometimes gets transfers from clients and sometimes the amount is batched together on a given day and we have to figure out what was from whom at the bank.

As long as you completed details correct your end I would not panic, but you need to communicate with them and a fax get%26#39;s ';seen';

e.g

: To - Thanthip Villa

: From - xxxxxxxx ( surname/family name capitals - name you made booking in )

ref: arrival date xxxxxx 1 twin 7 nights

deposit: xxxxxx

Already we send transfer kasikorn Bank 25 feb.

Please confirm OK

My email: xxxxx

My fax: (001) 61- xxxxxxx

Good luck and let us know

thank you Monica, you have put my mind at ease. Our bank is sending us the confirmation details that it has been sent and I will fax this to Thanthip Villa with details of our booking and hopefully that will get details sorted out.

Thanks Lynn

G%26#39;day Lynn,

I transfer money to different parts of Asia many times a day with no problem, can I ask how your bank in Aus did the transfer ?...Was it by Telegraphic Transfer ? ...If so they should have provided you a receipt showing the hotels account details and as Monica said a reference number.

If this was the case then scan the receipt and send it via email to the hotel.

I do this alot with suppliers and shipping companys in Asia as they always request proof of payment even after dealing with some of them for 20 years .

hopefully for you everything is ok and ouch at the bank fees they are terrible.

If by chance you have sent the funds to the wrong bank then get on to it straight away , Also it can take up to 4 days for the funds to appear in the hotels account as the banks do like to play with your money for awhile .

Cheers

Lozza

If you scan or copy ( in order to fax ) use a marker pen to scrub out %26#39;your%26#39; account details, no problem doing that as of no concern whatsoever to them.

Just leave where it shows %26#39;their account number%26#39;, the amount, and your name.

%26#39;If%26#39; you email another tip is don%26#39;t put in subject line words such as %26#39;have you received our tansfer%26#39; or anything like that, keep it clear and simple.

Put in the sbubect your name and arrival date

For them that is your %26#39;name%26#39; and %26#39;arrival date%26#39; as however they record things the arrival date is probably number 1 and name number 2.

A Fax does tend to get %26#39;looked at%26#39; by office/reception staff who can understand it speedily, emails however tend to get looked at by the person who nows how to work the PC !!

:) :)

thanks Lozza

It has become very messy. It was a telegraphic transfer and we had the original receipt that went to wrong account...... We sent the correct details to our bank who did the second transfer for us. We contacted the bank tonight to get a copy of our receipt which will take possibly until next Wed for us to receive? When we have that we will fax the details to Thanthip. We most probably have not helped the situation by sending more money than was required. As we are going with friends and booking 2 rooms we decided to each put in $400Au per couple as we didn%26#39;t know what fees the banks would take and thought the more we pay now the less we have to worry about once we get there. The other complication was Thanthip quoted us a superior room @ 1700 THB per night at promotion of Stay 14 Pay 9, plus extra for breakfast on free nights. When I emailed to check for confirmation they have sent us new rates for Superior room of 1200THB per night which works out CHEAPER!! It is so hard trying to get the correct details as we keep getting different people answering us. Isn%26#39;t it always the way when you are also booking on behalf of someone else that things go wrong!! Will keep you all updated on the outcome.

Thanks heaps

Lynn

Just wanted to let you know that all is GOOD. Took your advice and faxed through the copy from the bank with details of our stay and finally we have confirmation that they have our deposit and the rooms are booked - I can%26#39;t tell you just how relieved I am. Going to get a good night sleep now. Once again many thanks, Tripadvisor is such a great resource.

Cheers Lynn

Good old fashioned fax !

Tip _ when a group says %26#39;So who want%26#39;s to organise this then ?%26#39; make sure you don%26#39;t put your hand up ! :)

I just read some recent Feb reviews on Beachsiam for Thanthip as that is far more recent than when we went and still %26#39;very good reviews%26#39; - now you did remember to book those flights for everyone I hope :)

Hey Cookie, I wasnt ignoring you, have been away to Queensland for a couple of weeks, glad all worked out well for you!!

Cathy
