Is it safe at the moment?

2 girls travelling alone? What do you think? The UK foreign office website says no travel unless necessary so we%26#39;re not sure.

I would like to think Thai people are quite receptive of other races, we are black and not sure if there%26#39;s a lot of racism. I mean, we%26#39;ll probably stick out like sore thumbs, but that%26#39;s ok, as long as it%26#39;s safe etc

How is it in comparison to the UK?

Another thing, where should we stay / go.

Tips please.

shopping

culture

beach

spas etc etc

Is it safe at the moment?

HI

right at this moment the world is relatively safe

we did just get missed by an asteroid last week, only missed us by 45,000 miles and we still have this nasty global recessions but all and all Ok.

I would not put off any trips who knows when the next asteroid or whatever will hit. LOL

IMO Bangkok is safer than London.

Is it safe at the moment?

Black people really aren%26#39;t that rare in Bangkok. Although you will stand out, as do all tourists, how you are treated will depend mostly on how you present yourself.

Bangkok is shopping and eating. Besides the malls and restaurants, the streets are lined with vendors selling just about anything.

If you have limited time, Pattaya, Cha Am or Hua Hin might be a beach opportunity.

If you are staying a little while, heading to one of Thailand%26#39;s many islands would be enjoyable.

I hope you girls will have a good time.

Well as far as being Black, well there are so many other peopls from all over the world, you will just be another person visiring Thailand, lmao.

Ed

Don%26#39;t worry, Thailand is far safer than probably most places in Europe.

Use common sense as you would when you travel anywhwere and you will have a great and rewarding time. Thailand is very cosmopolitan and welcomes visitors from all over the world. Relax and enjoy!

What time of year - there are different weather patterns. Pperhaps mix some North of Thailand and nature with relaxing beach, do some snorkeling.

thank you so much

Dont believe exaggerated travel warnings!

Just come.

If you%26#39;re black you may get a few %26#39;interested%26#39; looks %26#39;off-the-beaten-track%26#39; but that%26#39;s more out of curiosity! Just the same for caucasians.

Have we run out of meds?

Londongirl.

It%26#39;s safe as houses. Regardless of skin colour %26#39;Westerners%26#39; are still sometimes subject to inquisitive looks and questions.

Always be friendly and polite and you it will be returned in buckets, in true Thai style.

You will only find trouble if you seek it.

I just returned from Phuket and Bkk with my Irish Nigerian mate. He was referred to as %26#39;Mr Chocolate Man%26#39; by a young lady who focused her working day at night time. In context it was taking very much in jest and with a great deal of laughter...

After all I got the impression she was very keen to get to know this particular Chocolate man better....

safer than a night out in london anytime. there is a streak of racism that runs through thai society, but you will almost certainly be treated politely and with respect a visitors, and as farangs ( foreigners) will be assumed to be rich and in shops, bars etc worth looking after as you may spend well and tip well too.
