You are not the only one who waits that the andaman holiday resort opens again. It is a wonderful place with its beautiful garden on the waterfront.

I heard the Hilton group bought it. And that it would be open again in 2009 ?????

Maybe we should contact the Hilton Management, because i tried several times in Klong Muang to contact the old staff, but - neither by email- nobody could give any news.

it seems some one has decided that klong muang should be the upmarket area for krabi.it alredy has a sheraton, sofitel, amari and the nakamanda which are all expensive and virtually empty outside of peak season.i fear it does not bode well for the area as people who stay at these big chain resorts rarely leave to sample the local restaraunts and other facilities and put anything back into the local community which is a shame.will have to look elsewhere for another andaman holiday resort which was thai owned and charming with great staff where everyone was made to feel most welcolme ,probably not very likely.as hard as the big chains try they seem to lack that special charm and hospitality.

hi owners of the andaman holiday resort have retired. and have opened the kor-bua restaurant nearer to a%26#39;onang. wonderful people ,and are dear friends of mine, we understand that the andaman will not look the same anymore. completely re built. we have been for the last 9 years and like you miss the place very much. it closed in may last year , and we were told it would be 2 years before a re opening.

all the good things come to an end. what a shame.

many thanks for the info. shadowessex totally agree what a terrible shame do you know exactly where the restaraunt is?some directions would be helpful.do you know of any other gems like the ahr especially in the krabi area and do you know who has the hotel grounds now? i really hope it is not one of the big hotel chains.apologies for so many questions i think a large brandy is called for now to mourn the passing of a great hotel and people who worked there it will be missed by a lot of people

For sure the people working in the now closed Andaman Resort miss their jobs. Also the people who have small businessess around miss the clients who get out the ressort to meet local Thai life.

Latest news is that the grounds have been bought by an Indian investor, who seems not to care about the people. The only thing he wants seems to be a profit and thus resell the property for more money then he bought it, which seems to be not an easy job with this economical crises worldwide

So it will probably NOT reopen in 2009.

Allthough the rumour goes that the scandinavian STAR touristgroup wanted to manage.....

But maybe someone has more optimistic news about this really beautiful ressort with its exceptionnal garden.

I ve seen all the other upperclass ressorts here. This one stays my favorite
