Urgent - where to exchange Scotland currency

Hi

Im assuming its both the banks and exchange booths that are refusing. If so you could try HSBC branch near Lumpini or Citybank on Sathorn Road both Bangkok, they might be helpful.

You%26#39;re probably out of luck. The only web reference to this I could find said:

';Please note that is not possible to change Scottish or Northern Irish bank notes anywhere in Thailand.';

http://www.bangkokunlimited.com/visa.htm

The source is far from definitive, but this statement might well be true.

Maybe you could make the acquaintence of some Scottish travellers (in a pub?) who are about to go home, and would change the banknotes for you.

You might try the Bangkok Bank head office in Silom Road (but not the exchange desk). Or Standard Chartered Bank in Sathorn, but you might not have much luck.

Most bank staff here are not familiar with Scottish notes and will be very suspicious.

As I understand it, Scottish and Northern Ireland banknotes are difficult to use in ENGLAND. So it%26#39;s no surprise they can%26#39;t be exchanged in Thailand.

There%26#39;s only one place that i know that does it for sure.That%26#39;s Vaassu(don%26#39;t know if i%26#39;ve spelt that correctly).It%26#39;s on Sukhumvit Rd.around Soi 7.If you get off at the skytrain at Nana station,it%26#39;s less than a minutes walk.It%26#39;s on the corner of one of the small sois.

I%26#39;ve changed Scottish notes there many times,with no problem.I think they only only keep office hours though.You may get a little less than the English Pound though,but it%26#39;s not too bad.

Hope this puts your mind at rest.

That%26#39;s probably because they are already there.

I hope you have luck with exchanging.

You can try your debit card or credit cards in ATMs and see if you can get some cash that way. You did notify your bank that you would be in Thailand, if not the ATM withdrawal may be denied.

You might find some fellow Scots at the airport leaving for home who might trade some UK pounds for your Scotland currency for a price.

Good luck.
