Cheapest way airport-Krabi town

We are planning to stay one night in Krabi town after flying into Krabi @ 3:15pm.

What%26#39;s the cheapest way to get into Krabi town?

Taxi? Shuttle bus? Songathew?

Cheers,

Andrea

When I was there last time there was a minivan for 120 baht into town.Taxi back out to the airport was 3oobaht (a rip off) because there was no minivan back to the airport. There was no songthaew .I asked at the tat in town.

100 baht on the airport bus. or...if you want to pay less, walk out onto the main road and get a songthaew (about 20 baht)

well 20B vs. 100 B seems like a deal. but what kind of walk across the main road are we talking? we will have our paks with us?

amz - it%26#39;s only a few hundred metres from the front doors of the airport to the main road, so no worries.

thanks!

Goodness, I have just booked with Asia Reservations a one way airport transfer to our hotel for 550 baht!!

Sigh.. sigh.. ok if we want to catch the bus for the return trip to airport, how do we do it ? Where do we catch it ?

ctmew - you are better off with a private car transfer if there are 2 of you.

the airport bus to Aonang costs 150 baht each and it takes a LONG time (going via Krabi Town and the bus station). Is it really worth saving a few dollars for the extra hassle?

550 Baht is reasonable. Door-to-door service and as fast as you wish. Possible to get a cheaper price if your haggling skill is above average.

Airport bus from Aonang will pick you up at several stops - in front of Krabi resort, near Phranang Inn and McDonald%26#39;s/Starbucks

Available 3 times - 8:30-9:00, 15:30-16:00 and 17:00-17:30

Buses are in good condition but take a bit longer time - say around 40-50 mins

We took the pre-booked van from the airport to Aree Tara where we stayed. That was for 550 Bahts per car.

Over the next few days along Ao Nang Beach road, we saw displayed taxi price of 600 Bahts to the airport. We then saw the white airport bus plying along Ao Nang Beach road and we made enquries with the bus driver while he was waiting for passengers near McDonald%26#39;s.

We decided to take the bus to the airport on our day of leaving. The fare was 150 Baht per person. After departing from McDonald, it travelled to Krabi Town, picked up more passengers from the Krabi Town stop before heading to the airport. The bus we were on actually made a detour to a place which was not a scheduled stop. The driver did that to drop off a local passenger that got on the bus earlier. I think they knew each other so the guy was just getting a free ride. This may have cost a delay of 5 minutes and we still got to the airport in good time alright.

So there you are, you have a choice of taking the airport bus or the taxi. If you have 4 persons, you should take a taxi. If you have less than 4 persons, you can take the bus as it is cheaper. If you have more than 4, take the bus because other than saving some money, taxis can only fit four passengers anyway. From the hotel to the Airport bus stop, you can take a tuk-tuk for 20B per person in the Ao Nang Area.
