pattaya first timers

Hello everyone. Me and a couple of my buddys are headin to pattaya for the first time. I was wondering how much money to bring to have a great time for two weeks? We wanna see the sights and do a little nightlife. Also... What is the most used denomination of money used over there? And if anyone could point out a few hot spots that are a must to hit up that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well----?? The most used denomination of paper money is 20 baht, 50 baht and 100 baht notes and miscellaneous coins of lesser values.

Change your dollars over to Thai baht AFTER you get to Thailand for the best rate. In Thailand you use Thai baht for almost all purchases. Some hotels will may use credit cards, but for cheap hotels use cash.

Thailand uses banks and mini banks to change money over, there are lots of them. Even at the airport you can change your money over 24 hours a day. Hotels and stores will give a lower rate than the banks. Bank rate changes a little, either up or down, every working day. Changes are small.

Thai money has the value printed with regular numbers you will recognize.

From Bangkok you can take a cheap VIP bus for the two hour ride to Pattaya if you want. Don%26#39;t skip Bangkok. You can get the bus at the Ekamai bus station which is off a Skytrain stop.

In Pattaya get a hotel that is not too far from Pattaya Sai Song (Pattaya 2nd Road) so you can walk to many places or take a cheap baht bus ride for 10 baht.

How much money to bring depends on how you spend your money. You can stay in hotels that have air, hot water, cable TV, private toilet/showers and safety box from around 500 baht to 800 baht. You can also spend 6000 baht per night if you have the bucks!

Hotels in Pattaya will be cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket. You can walk to many places such as bars, restaurants, travel agencies for tours, malls, movie theaters and lots of Seven Eleven type stores.

The area between Beach Road and Pattaya Second Road and several side sois are full of bars. Lots of nightlife in the Walking Street area. Soi 8, Soi Honey Inn, Soi Diana, Soi Buakhaw are some places with nightlife.

How much per day is in your budget? Keep in mind that you can also take money out of ATMs pretty easy too! Just make sure you tell your bank that you will be using a debit or credit card overseas and where so they do not suspect fraud.

Unless you NEED a hotel that is expensive you might be able to get by with a hotel in the 500 baht to 1500 baht range that is pretty good. You can eat cheap too! All you can eat breakfast buffets at the Lek Hotel and the Apex Hotel only cost 110 baht. Walk-ins welcome to eat there.

Nightlife, that depends on you. Always ask an expat or two what the going prices are for some places or things. Your bar tab should be no worse than what you pay in Minnneeesotah.

Have a nice time in Pattaya. If you have specific price in mind for a night in a hotel just mention that figure and someone will give you the name of a hotel.

Good luck.

Word of warning - the thousand baht note and twenty baht note are - when folded or crumpled - remarkably similar in color - especially in UV light so be careful with change and tipping - you might find you%26#39;ve been overly generous.
