Flight from Ko Samui to BKK-how much time to leave?

Would it be safest to fly to BKK from Samui the day before our evening flight back to the UK, or are we safe flying up in the morning or afternoon? Our flight home would be 8pm.

If it was me I would aim for the 15:45 flight to Bangkok. You do not say who you are flying with but assuming it is a partner airline of Bangkokair you will be able to check your bags through to the UK and complete immigration formalities in Samui.

It%26#39;s Gulf Air we%26#39;re thinking of going with. So it is safe enough to fly up the same day, we don%26#39;t need to go the day before?

Of course it%26#39;s safe...You have so many flights to choose from, Bangkok air has flights to Bangkok nearly every hour, why would you go day before if you flight is in the evening...You only have to do it if you fly back to UK in a morning...

@ Elina.

Does this still apply even if you haven%26#39;t pre-booked your tickets?

Im hoping to just book a return flight down to Samui and back once i get to Bangkok in two weeks.

Book in advance on their website. It%26#39;s normally cheaper, plus you may end up with fully booked planes exactly when you need to fly. I personally always book bangkok air in advance, this way I can choose what time and what plane I want to take.

Sorry to hijack your thread, i%26#39;m thinking about this too with my flights.

Our Eva Air flight departs for LHR at 12.50 and I%26#39;m thinking of booking a thai airways flights which departs at 9.30 and lands into BKK at 10.35. (instead of the 7.45am with Bangkokair). Ive read on Evaairs website than check-in is recommended 1 hr before dep time, therefore by 11.50. Which leaves us with 1hr 15min. Is this enough time ?

(ps travelling with a 2 and 4 yr old - which always adds on 15 mins to everything we do !)

If Bangkok Air has really stopped checking bags with Eva through to your final destination, then you need at least 3 hours in Bangkok airport, as check-in time for ALL international flights starts 3 hours prior to departure time, not 1 hour. If you come there just 1 hour before departure - you will be lucky to get a last seats near the toilet, but most likely all your family will be sitting in different areas of the plane...

If you fly at 12.50, you need to check-in your bags at 9.50-10am, and also, if you have to collect them first from your Samui flight and then walk with 2 small kids across all airport to international departures - you have to arrive to Bkk around 9.15-9.30am the latest, so you need to leave Samui not later than 8.15am or before.

Thanks for that - I will be pre booking my seats with Eva Air before we fly out - so im not to concerned about that. We usually always aim to check-in before they close the check in desks, say 30 mins before they close. So I think the the early flight will be the safe option.

I%26#39;ve already pre booked EVA both ways, The urgent question is do I cancel Bangkok Air tickets and rebook 1 day earlier or not, staying overnight in Bangkok?

I%26#39;ve emailed Bangkok Air for a clarification re luggage tagging from Samui. Hopefully they%26#39;ll respond pretty quickly, the thought of many missing their connections is a serious issue.
