Phi Phi island inside help...

hi! coming to thailand in nov mainly to visit the islands..only starting to look at accomodation etc now! looking for somewhere cheap, backpacking on a budget, want to be close to beach, nightlife, amenities etc. heard bungalows on the beach are the best? any tips? clueless where to go! wats the best part of the island for 25 year olds? any info appreciated!

Hi there, well Nov is high season and rooms can be hard to come by of just expensive.

I would suggest you book one night at least in advance, that way when you get here you can have a look around and maybe move to one of the guesthouses, at the moment you cant book online with this accomodation.

Check out www.phi-phi.com and maybe have a look at PP Casita, Cheap Charlies and Kinaree House. These are all pretty much on the centre of town and close to all of the restaurants and bars.

I would recomend staying in this area as its where most things happen, You can stay on LOng Beach but there is no nightlife there, you would have to catch a water taxi into town, or there is the other side of the island with the big resorts such as the Holiday inn and Phi Phi village, but again there is not much nightlife apart from restaurants and the customers here tend to be more couples.

Can you advise me on %26#39;transfers%26#39;?

We fly into Krabi, and then need to get to Phi Phi Don.

I%26#39;ve sent a booking request to stay at PP Casita based on your recommendations in the forum- thanks!!

Should I pre-book my transfer to Phi Phi Don, or can I do that when I arrive? Also, do we take a ferry, or do we rent our own long boat or maybe a motor boat? I noticed on a hotel site, the trip is about 43 km.

Hi there, you can book a taxi direct from the airport to the pier and buy your ferry ticket there, i dont think you can pre book, it takes about an hour and a half to two hours. You could go by speedboat but its very expensive.

We are a young married couple, looking for somewhere nice and relaxing (but not completely isolated!). We are not backpacking, so looking to spend around £60-80 GBP per night- please can you advise of any good hotels! Thanks very much

Hi there i would stay in the main area of the island, more access to the nightlife and numerous restaurants and you are still able to get away from it all.

As for hotels,well the Phi Phi View Point is very nice and about a 5/10mins walk into town, have a look at their website, if you do book though avoid the hillside fan rooms as they are quite old! if you can afford it the seaview villas are aazing, stunning views over Loh Dalam Bay, sunsets here are fantastic. Great pool and bar too.

Or maybe Casita Bungalows, in the same area as View Point Resort, great pool, bar and restaurant. Their a/c bungalows are lovely too.

Hi Tigerbar... question about restaurants on Phi Phi.

We booked a bungalow at the Casita based on your recommendation- thanks!

What restaurants do you recommend for good thai food (noodles, curry, BBQ prawns, etc) in the area of PP Casita/Tonsai Village? Or even a short tuk-tuk away is OK.

Also, do any of the larger resorts have good restaurants that you like? (of course, they%26#39;d need to allow non-guests to eat there)

oh there are many, Casita itsellf has a great restaurant The Flamingo.. sorry but there are no tuk tuk on Phi Phi, there are no cars and no roads everything is in walking distance.

Your best bet is just to have a look around, you%26#39;ll find everything from italian, french, local market vendors, scandinavian or you can even learn and dine at the Thai cooking school - Pum%26#39;s restaurant.

I hope to travel to Thailand in November, I hope to travel to Phi Phi, Ko Phangan (for the full moon party) and another island. I would like to stay in star huts as it seems a good location. Im looking for accommodtion near pubs etc but not too noisy. Do also know the average cost of living, for example drinks and food
