Thinking of going to phuket for my 40th with my husband (maybe 2 kids 16 and 7) first I was thinking of going end of june or july i%26#39;m a teacher and out of school then??? hows the weather?

want to stay at the Marriot for 4 or 5 days in the second half of the trip because its free with my points and we can just veg out, sit by pool, do spa etc.

i would love to go somewhere first way less touristy and american. i want to do all the excursions from that location? what excursions should not be missed??? Any idea of a great hotel or location for the first part of the trip figure around 5 nights also???

Last question if coming from ny/philadelphia area what airline/route is best???

Thanks so much!!!

You must go on a sail boat with Captian Mark.

Everyone here who has gone raves about him. I booked my day with him for April 11th, I can%26#39;t. I have heard so many good things.

Hi there,

The time you are planing to go is in the wet season and although you will get rain it is generally in short bursts and then the sun comes out. Its quite humid this time of the year and you can expect temperatures of minimum overnight 25c 80F and tops around 30c 90F with around 75% humidity.

As SnowPirate said Marks sailing trip is a very good day out you can contact him on his web site,

http://www.phuketsailtours.com/

There are so many things to see and do to suit a wide variety of different interests, it would be a good idea to have a look at Cathy %26amp; Gary%26#39;s travel pages as they have listed a huge amount of things to see and do in Phuket and also many other areas they have traveled through. http://www.cathyandgarystravelpages.com/

If you stay in Patong Beach everything is within your reach as you can walk from one end to the other in around 25 minutes (if your not hassled by touts). There are many travel agents, offices, tour desks all over the place so in a short time you could book many things.

Patong Beach is very touristy and in your face but also has a charm and vibe that is very different to other parts of the island.

As for accommodation away from this area you will have to rely on others as we like to stay in the middle of Patong.

Hope this helps,

Cheers, Pete.

Hi,

Have a read of my 2 trip reports, the first one is a summarised report and the second one is a day by day report.

Just type in the Phuket search box the following.

Stewie%26#39;s 2008 Phuket Trip Report.

Stewie%26#39;s Day By Day Phuket Trip Report.

Then click on the links.

Cheers,

Stewie.
