Look on wotif.com or Asiarooms.Mid next year is low season and some how don%26#39;t think you will need to splash out that much for a decent place per night. Many places on the accommodation web sites offer book 6 pay for 4 etc..during low season. No need to panic and book now as you will have pick of the best regardless then!

Counter-intuitively, booking so far in advance does not get you the best deal. Same with airfares. There is a sweet spot between 3 to 6 months before you go. Longer than that the hotels/airlines figure they have plenty of time to fill spots, and will take their chances.

Your best bet is to look out for pay 4/stay 8 deals, pay 5/stay 10 etc. Patong Merlin would definitely fit the bill (3 good pools) and offers these every year. Gracelands (very big pool) does too. A little walk from the beach is Duangjitt, with it%26#39;s huge pool. But be aware that the cheaper rooms at bigger resorts are the ones that get all the bad reviews. You may want to stay in a better room at a cheaper hotel.

At the northern end, a fair walk in, is Sunset Beach hotel(good reviews) and Club Andaman resort(mixed reviews), and as mentioned Thara Patong, in the heart of Patong, gets great reviews.

And watch out for those ridiculously cheap airfares that come out, just after I book...

You have plenty of time.

If you are going mid year ie. May to october then rates are at their lowest. No need to think about booking until this time next year, rates will change. You can get an idea of what you can get, Google perhaps for Patong Beach hotel rates Australia Ddollars to get ideas, certainly for AU$ 100 you will have not problems based on last year and this year%26#39;s rates.

This year rates low season for 2 with breakfast Thanthip Villa AU$52, Thara Patong ( very nice, good value ) $ 89, Tropica Bungalows $68, Coconunt Village $59. if families Swiss Palm beach 2 bedroom apartments / duplex 4 persons with breakfast for about $ 114 for all 4 but the pool is small.

Thara Patong has nice pools, easy walk to beach nearby, close to nightlife and shopping, good value.

.Does it have to be Patong ?

If not Patong the centara Kata is very good, about $69, a top bargain always is Sugar Palm Kata about $36 for 2.

Lot%26#39;s of choice but that budget will be easy as will give you lots of choices.

We booked agent web 2hotelsthailand.Them recommeted our.Into the Duangjitt as it was one of the few hotels having availability during the xmas holidays before the BKK airport mess. We were hoping to stay at the Impiana or the Amari Coral but they were already booked up.

We stayed in a bungalow which was nice, although when I think of a bungalow i expect it to be a free standing building, ie no common walls which this has. That being said, the building is poured concrete so it is incredibly quiet. The room was clean and nice sized, but the bed was hard as a rock and the room lacks a bathtub. This is an important omission especially for the Japanese tourist who will not be happy about this.

The pools are great, far better than expected. I was also very pleased with the Spa. It is more like a 5 star spa in a 3 star hotel which is rare.

Location is great and the scope of the property does allow for a quiet escape from the great insanity in Patong.

Overall, not a first choice for me as I like the boutique resort better than the massive property. That being said, if you do like larger properties and a massive pool with solid rooms, this is a good choice for you.
