Grand Palace and chao phaya river questions

for the Grand palace you are supposed to wear socks if you wear sandals, long trousers and shirts are fine, but they are not keen on t-shirts, although it is a bit of a lottery, they will still let you in but you may need to hire %26#39;suitable%26#39; attire. Best to dress correctly. Do watch out for the scam mongers in front of the palace. The palace is open whatever they say and it%26#39;s best to just smile and keep walking to the entrance.

The ferry trip you mention takes about 10-15 minutes. I usually get the orange flag boats as they stop at most main piers, the blue flag boat stops everywhere and is therefore slower and the yellow is an express stopping at fewer piers, useful if you are going way up river.

Enjoy your holidays

thankyou lewes for the info,better take the correct foot wear then,i also heard there was a white flag ferry or no flag where does that travel on the river,and is there a ferry that travel on the river after 7:00 at night,we are staying at the Navalia resort near pier 13,thanks.

lucky you, Navalai looks great every time I pass, nice terrace to watch the boats go by... boats operate in daylight hours, so roughly 6am to 6pm ish white flag I never saw, you%26#39;ll be fine with a blue, orange or yellow I%26#39;m sure

Clothes wise, I went there with a T shirt on and was fine. Anyone with a sleeveless T shirt got refused entry.

Hello

I thought I read somewhere that you can wear sandals so long as they have a back strap - not thongs. Is this correct?

Thanks

Marlene

you can wear sandals, you just need socks on as well... not a good look

lol

';you can wear sandals, you just need socks on as well... not a good look';

Unfortunately, in Bangkok, it%26#39;s a far too common look!
