Samui - Bangkok connection with EVA Air

For all of you good people hoping to save time at Bangkok airport by checking your luggage all the way through from Samui to Heathrow, the bad new is that you can%26#39;t anymore. We travelled home on the 10th of March and were told at Samui airport that Bangkok Airways had ';changed their affiliation program'; and that it was not possible to book all the way through. We had 2 hours at Bangkok airport to connect to the EVA air flight and JUST managed it as the Bangkok Airways flight was fortunately on time. It takes an absolute age to collect baggage (even though ours were tagged ';fast track';) and then find the International Departures which is at least a 20 minutes trek.

Oh dear this will be a rush for us also. We land in Bangkok from Samui at 9.50 and leave for Heathrow at 12.50 with Eva.Why do good plans go to waste?

We also have been informed that our flight from Leeds to Heathrow has been axed.

Thanks for sharing and hope you had a good holiday.

3 hours will be fine. We only had 2 hours but still made it. Bangkok Airways flights seem to be very punctual.

Hell, my flight landing time from Samui is 11.05 - Eva lift off 12.50.

Is that enough time?

Same as me, my flight is 12:50 and i%26#39;m thinking of booking with thai airways as they have a flight dep at 9.30 which lands into BKK at 10:35. And I don%26#39;t know if thai air check your baggage all the way thru. May consider the earlier option with bangkokair at 7.45am.

DEfromBC,

Can you give us more details of what was said at Samui airport and by whom? The website is still showing the same partners and I have not seen any announcements of changes.

Did you check-in at domestic departures or international?

This is obviously an important topic for people connecting in Bangkok and it would be good if we can clarify the situation.

Regards

Roy.

Can anyone who is going in the next month or two please put a new posting telling us if they managed to check lugage all the way home on this site as this topic has serious implications for anyone going to Koh Samui and returning home.

We recently flew (22nd Feb) from Heathrow via BKK to Samui with EVA and Bangkok and we were able to check our luggage all the way through. It does seem odd that they have stopped this service. Maybe a phone call to Bangkok airways could be a good idea if you need to use this service.

deedeeLeicester,

Thai do check bags all the way,you should have no problems. The wife and i flew them late jan and they were great.

Keith

Hey fellow Leicester person !

Did you fly with Eva air ? If so which flight did you take?

Hi deedee,no we flew with Thai and they were very good.We liked the idea of only flying with the one airline with less hassle.Never flown Eva so can%26#39;t comment on them.

Not quite a Leicester lad but pretty close(Countesthorpe).

Regards

Keith
