Veranda Lodge /Chan Chay Bungalows

Hi, been to Hua Hin last some years ago. Will travel with my 13-y old son and 18-y old daughter after 1,5 weeks. I have stayed in the past at Nilawan and I guess all the guest houses on that soi. However, last time we took a bungalow (2 stories,2 br,2 baths, kitchen, living room) next to the same soi, Baan Chan Chay. Now I noticed on the net that they have built a small hotel even closer to the beach, Veranda lodge. The pictures look beautiful but I wonder if the rooms/suites are big enough for a family of this kind. Also, I have no recollection whether there was any connection to the main road from the old veranda which used to be a bar/restaurant on the beach.Maybe not possible to walk through Chan Chay? Anyone of you know?

And by the way, is there any major construction work going on just next the above mentioned places?

The city must have changed a lot since we were there, but hotelrooms seem to be vacant.

Would be happy if anyone shares their experience.

And if anybody has contact info to a company that could pick us up from Bangkok (not airport, will stay at hotel there first), I would be glad to use that, too.taking a so-called limo from a Bkk hotel will certainly be more expensive.

Oriental escapes charge about 2,600 for limo service from bangkok hotels to Hua Hin.

Some others use some local Hua Hin services, if you browse you will find the details.

Yes veranda used to be the beach restaurant and they have built a small hotel there at the beach.

I think they have some family suites but have not seen inside. the restaurant though is still a superb location on the beach.

There are a lot of new expensive places open and being opened, last years Sheraton opened north of the town, Intercontinental being built, luxury V Villas ( Accor ) on the beach and Baan laksasubha which are villa suiteds at the beach near Sofitel.

2 wks ago, we took a shared van ride from Hua Hin to Bangkok which takes 2 1/2 hrs.

Drop-off was around Victory Monument in BKK, so pickup point to Hua Hin should be there. Schedule is every 15-20 mins.

200 Bhts per pax for the 13 seater aircon van, comfortable too. Drop-off at Hua Hin is around HuaHin70, which is in town, so you can easily connect to your hotel easily.

Hi Travelmom,

We visited Veranda Lodge for a friend last August. We drove straight in down an alleyway from the main road and had lunch at the Veranda Grill restaurant before checking out the family suite.

The family suite we saw had two rooms, one bathroom and living area.

Check out my one of my JBR%26#39;S on the link below, has some info on VerandaLodge. Cheers, Sue
