Extended Stay - Budget Sleeps

Are there are towns in SE Asia, that are well set up to offer guest house living of the same quality and price as in Chiangmai; King bed, fridge, A/C and Cable TV and walk up to 3 floors for 500 BTH per night? We spend 2 months in SE Asia between Jan- Mar and we need to manage our budget a lot better since our currency lost 23% on the US$.

We have spent a few days in Malaysia%26#39;s main towns like KL, Melaka and Georgetown, but they have big city prices. We like to stay for 3 weeks for R %26amp; R. Thew same applies to Bali. Been to Vietnam %26amp; Cambodia. Any other countries?

First hand experience will be most useful.

Sure, you can alaways find some guest house around that range, January though is still peak season but from even mid january prices drop. between Chiang mai and Bangkok you will find plenty of places and then if you go down the coast there are towns and villages with beaches with cabana style cabins, bungalows etc with /ac, tv ( though it might not be top end cable ! ) You can often also find small hotels in towns that offer a/c rooms around that price, these cater a lot for domestic travelers. Not a problem.
